Big Meadows Wayside

We had a great day. Drove to the park visitors center. Purchased a trails book then asked the park rangers there about the near by loop trail to Lewis falls. The Rangers recommend a starting point, route to take and where to park. We ate our lunch in the campground next to the visitors center then parked our car at the adjacent amphitheater parking. The trail falls trail is accessed from the parking lot by a short path to the junction of the Appalachian and falls trails. We followed the blue tree markings as we descended down the rocky trail. (Walking sticks recommend.) When we reached the falls they didn't look like much. However there's a path around the back of the falls to a viewing platform reveling the beautiful tall falls. We continued the blue trail till then the Appalachian trail back to our car. The loop took us over three hours of fairly strenuous hiking but it was great.

From the first time I visited this park I fell in love with it , it’s wonderful, peaceful, just amazing .

Ride was nice. Lots of rest rooms, information booths & lookouts, along the way. Very informative stations along the route. Nice campgrounds. Place, to buy gas, if running low. Small stores, along the way.
